Welcome To Systas 4 Systas Inc.!

SYSTAHOOD refers to a close-knit group of friends from New Jersey joined by the common bond instinctively shared by all women.  SYSTAHOOD is the basis for a motivating and supportive network for all women who desire to achieve above and beyond normal expectations.

Bearing witness to the downfall of self-esteem within our youth, a group of childhood friends devised SYSTAS 4 SYSTAS, Inc. (S4S).  We are a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt corporation founded in 1994 to promote and support the development of urban females between the ages of 11-21 years, to help them rise above negativity and take control of their destiny. Since 1994, S4S has remained true to its philosophy and acronym Supporting Young Systas Toward Achieving Success.

S4S Depts

Headquartered in East Orange and Newark, NJ, our services are provided in collaboration with community-based agencies, business leaders and residents. We believe a strong support system that promotes educational and social skills will significantly increase the chances of a successful transition into adulthood.

Our motto is “Love Your Systa Like A Sister” and all participants are encouraged to deal with each other as family. Our program participants are referred to as “lil’ systas” and program mentors referred to as “big systas”.

We deliver services through three organizational components:

The Survival Course

The Survival Course is a custom-tailored series of life skills building and social awareness workshops for young adults in the 14-21 year old age-group living in economically and educationally disadvantaged areas.  It plays a vital role in our commitment to instilling a driving ambition within urban youth to take control of their destinies.

The Survival Course program employs prevention and intervention methods that deter delinquent behavior, reduce early withdrawals from school and increase health awareness.  It is expected that through instruction, review and application of the goals and objectives of the course curriculum, students will develop respect and pride of self and learn how to diplomatically resolve issues of conflict.  Furthermore, participants will learn how to identify and detach themselves from illegal activities.

Services focus on developing and strengthening the participants’ life skills, globalizing their world-view and preparing them for becoming responsible independent adults.  The Survival Course is open to males and females.

"Me First" Curriculum

Is a series of gender-specific workshops designed to build life skills and self-esteem, increase self-awareness and pass on the necessary coping skills to prepare females in the 11-14 years age-group for transition into high school.

These workshops are instrumental in narrowing the communication gap between youth and adults and are custom tailored to meet the needs of the consumer, providing intervention and prevention strategies to succeed in today’s society.

Six Areas of Service

S4S programs and services were developed to assist our participants with their transition into adulthood and to help them deal with the social issues affecting them.  S4S services are delivered through specially tailored workshops designed around six areas of service:

  • Cultural awareness/social growth
  • Life skills/economic development
  • Community service
  • Education development
  • Health awareness & education
  • Recreational/creative arts

Program Features

S4S services are highly effective. So much so that we even have alumni as mentors.  We have successfully impacted sexual promiscuity and teen pregnancy.  To date, we have documented only two pregnancy and two abortions out of 728 program participants. That is a .5% pregnancy rate.  Furthermore, all of our participants graduate high school, including 22 who have gone on to college.
